Your Key Person
Our Key Person System
We have a strong Key Person system in place across the setting so that your child is individually supported with their learning and development throughout their time at Three Bears. It gives you as parents a point of contact for ongoing discussion, advice and support. Each child's key person will take observations linked to one or more of the 7 'Areas of Learning' and one or more of the 3 'Characteristics of Effective Learning' in the Early Years Foundation Stage, and plan for the child using their current interests on a weekly and monthly basis. When your child joins us they will become a key child of one of our team in the room they are joining. They and their parents are immediately able to begin to build a strong bond with their Key Person, filling out an 'All About Me' to introduce the child to the setting.
When your child moves into the next room (next age group) we ensure they have half day and full day visits to ensure they become familiar with their new key person, the other staff in the room, the children and the new environment.
As we are a small family run setting we have the advantage that all our team get to know all of the children individually, this ensures the children are settled and comfortable throughout every day at nursery. We feel it creates a home away from home environment and is one of our strongest features, as alongside having a positive relationship with their key person they are able to build relationships with the rest of the team too.
